Funny, Stupid Message from April to Staci
Submitted by chris on Sat, 03/22/2008 - 8:11amThis clip probably doesn't really go all that well with the site's audience. Nonetheless, it serves two purposes. 1.) It creates a great example of the audio capabilities on the site and 2.) It's funny as hell. For some background, this recording was not staged and was never intended to be recorded or preserved. Luckily though, Staci answered the phone after the 5 magic rings that also triggered the answering machine. I just happened to catch it live this same night when my wife (then girlfriend) and I were living with her sister Staci. The

Jason Nagy - teen dis ease
Submitted by chris on Mon, 08/25/2008 - 9:01amI called on Nagy to deliver some of his mixes at least two years ago. And fruition comes, finally. Here's a tasty sampler from the three mixes he posted from this past week. "Teen Dis Ease" is a tight mix of 4:4's and breaks, smoothly combined to show that one doesn't have to dominate the other. Though it's only 13 minutes in length, this shorty mix is proof that Jason has originality and depth to his music selection. If you like this...

VP01: Chris Everest - Carnival Augusta
Submitted by chris on Thu, 06/18/2009 - 4:15pmThis mix originally aired on Vinyl Project Radio as Live Show 4 and is one of my favorite mixes I have done (evar). In response, I'll take the time to blow my own horn and kick-off Episode 1 with this homegrown mix. Carnival Augusta was totally improvised. Mixed in the basement, with only the pooch, the stimpinator and my endearing wife to put up with the throws of emitting bass. Most of the tracks are 21st century, minimal techno and tech-house. Enjoy.

DJ Gina Turner - Midweek Techno @ Phoenix Landing, Cambridge MA
Submitted by chris on Mon, 07/13/2009 - 12:31pmI caught this recording via the Ghostly International twitter feed this morning, who in turn was boasting (via retweet) the presence of Spectral/Ghostly and other artists featured on the mix. On first listen, I was far too impressed to let this recording live on anonymously via the zShare networks (linked here for posterity). So I hit up DJ Gina Turner and she graciously allowed us to host her mix here. So click the list

Chris Everest - Pantalones
Submitted by chris on Wed, 08/26/2009 - 3:59pmTranslated, this mix is the "Pants". Starting with a bit of noise and straight beats (from the 90's), transitioning to dubtech and then moving right along to some 'feel good' grooves, we'll barely make it above 120 BPM. And if the "Pants" doesn't get you, well how about "More Cowbell"? I've compiled the tracklisting here from a majority of 2009 releases, but still managed to sneak in a few of my old favorites. If taking my sweet time picking all these tracks wasn't enough, I also employed some new apps in order to get the mix cut-up and mastered for the site. Click the read link for the tracklisting.

Chris Everest - Snowy Death
Submitted by chris on Sat, 02/06/2010 - 1:27amJust a quick mix tonight as I was stranded at home. Quick, because I was interrupted by a 'work' call. It's too bad I was interrupted because the mix was going quite well. Dark at times, but not scary despite the title. The tracks are from my most recent record purchase. One track (guess which one) is not like the others. I stuck a digital track in there using my new xwax setup. I'm really liking xwax. It's quite responsive and error free so far. Enjoy the mix.

1 Auxy - Live DJ Set 2011-06-10
Submitted by chris on Mon, 06/13/2011 - 6:01pmI met 1 Auxy (James Morris) for the first time last Saturday, shortly before this set was recorded. Unbeknownst to him, I was already indebted to his DJ skills. You see back in October of 2010, James had to bow out of a previous Bent Crayon event opening for Thomas Brinkmann. Wherein I was called upon to play in his absence. Something that turned out to be a great bit of fun for me, not to mention all the new faces I've met via Bent Crayon since that event.
